PIX is the instant payment scheme created by the Central Bank of Brazil, running continuously with settlement in seconds. For iGaming in Brazil it reorganised deposits and withdrawals at the same time.
On the deposit side, it drastically reduced friction compared with cards and removed much of the issuer-side declines. On the withdrawal side, it changed player expectations irreversibly: their mental comparison is not with another book, it is with the bank transfer that lands in seconds. A payout taking hours is perceived as a problem, not as normal.
Operational consequences that are often underestimated:
- The manual review queue becomes the real bottleneck of the withdrawal SLA, especially outside business hours.
- Account ownership is a strong anti-fraud signal, and also a source of false positives in family contexts.
- Volume concentrated around sporting events requires elastic capacity at the provider.
