VIP programme is the dedicated management of the high-value player portfolio: account-manager service, differentiated benefits and priority treatment in sensitive operations such as withdrawals.
The structural problem of almost every programme is benefit inflation: what was an exception becomes an expectation, the expectation becomes an entitlement, and within twelve months the programme is a discount table impossible to reduce without losing the player.
Practices that avoid this:
- Prefer episodic benefits (invitations, experiences, treatment at a specific moment) over recurring ones (fixed cashback, higher limits), which create monthly expectations.
- Have an exit criterion that is actually applied, with an observation band and quarterly steps.
- Make every benefit start with an explicit expiry.
- Control manager discretion with a monthly cap, a recorded reason, and review of what was granted outside the rules.
Measuring the programme is the hardest part: comparing VIP with non-VIP is biased by construction, because the VIP was already more valuable before joining. Only a control group among eligible players answers how much of the value is incremental.
